Delph & Dobcross v Shepley Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership Saturday 20th June 2009 Huddersfield Road, Dobcross
Shepley lost another game they might have won in a rain-reduced fixture at high-flying Delph & Dobcross. The Lancashire weather meant a late start and a 25 over game. Shepley batted first, reaching a reasonable 157-5, mainly thanks to Tom Denton (45) and Danny Glover (43*). In reply, Delph struggled to keep up with the pace thanks to some tight bowling from Glover and Romain Grenville and with just ten overs remaining were 67-3. However, Kamran Mirza came to the wicket and immediately launched into the Shepley bowling and completely transformed the innings. A flurry of sixes emboldened his colleagues and, suddenly, they were all hitting boundaries. The win came with nine balls and four wickets to spare.
