Shepley v Golcar Drakes League Premiership Saturday 12 July 2008 Marsh Lane, Shepley
Shepley beat leaders Golcar in a thrilling match as they recorded a sixth consecutive win. Shepley batted first and found conditions difficult, reaching just 46-1 off the first 20 overs. Gradually, however, Tom Denton (75) and Tim Rees (55) took charge with a stand of 95, helping Shepley to a respectable 178-6, despite a difficult last few overs. Golcar must have rued five straightforward catches and an easy stumping that slipped by. Golcar's reply also had its ups and downs; at 61-4, with their top four all out, they were struggling. But a strong middle order reply put them back as favourites until pressure from the bowlers led to an unnecessary run-out and a casual stumping that changed the balance of the match. A great win for Shepley and probably only a slight dent in Golcar's championship hopes.
