Holmfirth
v Shepley
Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership
Saturday 19th July 2008
Bridge Fold, Holmfirth
Victory over lowly Holmfirth would have
taken the 1st XI into third place but, on a pitch described as the worst seen in
fifteen seasons of Huddersfield League cricket, they fell short to end a run of
six consecutive victories. Bowling first, Danny Glover led the way with a
season's best 6-31, supported by Phil Heaton (2-31) and Ramesh Subasinghe
(2-33), as Holmfirth were bowled out for 121. Despite the state of the
pitch, that seemed achievable but, in the event only Josh Ardron with an
excellent knock of 25 and Nigel Hoyle (40*) lasted long and Shepley fell 13
runs short.
