Shepley v Meltham Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership Saturday 29 August 2009 Marsh Lane, Shepley
Tim Rees's impressive season continued as he led Shepley to victory over struggling Meltham at Marsh Lane. Though he fell short of a well-deserved century, Rees (96) held the innings together on a damp wicket, well supported by openers Sam Haigh (36) and SP Singh (23) and all-rounder Romain Grenville (36). Shepley's total of 215-7 seemed reasonable in the conditions. In reply Meltham slumped to 12-2 as captain Danny Glover (3-51) and Grenville (1-28) struck early. Thorne and Raje steadied the ship but, once their stand of 84 was ended, wickets fell regularly with only Armitage showing much resistance and finally ensuring his side got a point, hanging on to 168 with the last pair at the wicket.
