Barkisland v Shepley Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership Saturday 27th August 2006 Woodfield, Barkisland
Shepley came out on top in a thrilling game on a difficult track at Barkisland. At 94-7, Barkisland looked down and out, but some polished lower-order hitting from Jobson got the score up to 170, a difficult target in the circumstances, particularly as Phil Heaton could barely hold a bat following an injury in the field, and Tom Denton was unluckily out second ball. However, a gritty fourth wicket stand between Simon Potter and Rob Denton slowly pulled things round and got the target in sight. Finally, Liam Morris, the coolest man in the ground, smashed a six into the churchyard to see his team home by three wickets with an over to spare. The defeat condemned Barkisland to the Conference for next season.
