Shepley v Barkisland Sykes Cup Second Round Sunday 28th May 2006 Marsh Lane, Shepley
South African all-rounder Michael Olivier led Shepley to a thrilling last ball Sykes Cup victory over Barkisland. He scored 97, including a fourth wicket stand of 112 with Simon Potter (35). Once the two were parted at 170-4 chasing 200 to win, the tension rose as wickets fell regularly. The last over began with 3 wickets left and 3 runs needed; when the last ball arrived the scores were level and the last pair together. Steve Sullivan played a lofted shot towards mid-off, where a Barkisland fielder made a valiant, juggling effort to take the catch. Nigel Hoyle called Sully through for the winning run as the catch was spilled. Gripping stuff!
