THE CUP DOUBLE 2011
Over three weeks in 2011 Shepley Cricket Club made history by becoming the first club to win both the Heavy Woollen Cup and the Sykes Cup in the same season. Not only that, these were the first cup wins in the Club's one hundred and forty year history.
The two finals were extraordinary games of cricket, where Danny Glover's team had to dig deep to ensure their success. The whole squad contributed to the cup runs - nine players are mentioned in the top performances below, while the others made significant contributions at important times - and there was a wonderful team spirit.
Not only was the cricket of the highest standard, the partying was world class too. Not many clubs would party for nine hours after a game was rained off without a ball being bowled, as happened when the original date for the Sykes Cup Final was washed out. The fact that one of the players spent the night after the Heavy Woollen Cup Final sleeping on the bench in front of Shepley Co-op tells its own story! Players, officials and supporters came together to celebrate a wonderful achievement.
This page brings together how the Club and others saw the cup runs.

TEAMING UP FOR CHARITY
Shepley's players have teamed up with Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale's All Rounder cricket equipment specialists to help promote awareness of the dangers of the deadly disease meningitis. Shepley's squad ordered top quality Adidas training gear ahead of their two appearances within seven days in two major cup finals.
All Rounder spotted the connection between the Club and The Meningitis Trust and offered to fund the positioning of the charity's logo on the kit for these two high profile events. The players were delighted to support the idea and hope that it will help broadcast the importance of knowing the symptoms of the illness before it is too late. The photograph shows Shepley captain Danny Glover and batsman Huw Ellis wearing the training gear on on the eve of the Heavy Woollen Cup final.
