A disappointing start to the season with a much-depleted Shepley side going down heavily to newly-promoted Kirkheaton. Not one of the five bowlers who played in the nine-wicket win against the same opposition in last season's Sykes Cup was available. Unfortunately it showed and not even Tim Rees' stylish 71 and a solid 32 from Tom Denton could help post enough runs to set a winning target.
