Shepley v Kirkheaton
Huddersfield League Premiership
Saturday 8th July 2006
Marsh Lane, Shepley
Rain ruined what was building up into a good
finish as Shepley and bottom side Kirkheaton settled for two points each.
Shepley batted first, posting a challenging 242-5 thanks to 93* from skipper
Phil Heaton and good contributions throughout the batting line-up.
When Kirkheaton replied they were led by a superb knock from Pakistan Test
player Shadab Kabir. Making his debut for Kirkheaton, Kabir looked
capable of winning the match on his own until a superb (and very tight) run
out by Craig Glover - with only one stump to aim at - changed the balance.
As the rains arrived Kirkheaton needed a further 71 from 8.2 overs with six
wickets remaining.
