Micklehurst v Shepley Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership Saturday 21st April 2007 Castle Lane, Micklehurst
A disappointing start to the season on a low, slow pitch at Micklehurst. Good, accurate bowling, particularly from young spinners Buckley & Lilley, tied Shepley down as wickets fell regularly. Phil Heaton played the one major innings, whilst Rob Denton and Nigel Hoyle added valuable runs lower down the order. Once Micklehurst went in to bat, Shepley's 141 suddenly looked a much better total. A great opening spell from Danny Glover and debutant Trent Copeland saw the home side reduced to 25-4, but a number of dropped catches - Copeland was particularly unlucky - let them off the hook. Rashid and Whittle rebuilt the innings and, though Craig Glover took a couple of wickets to raise hopes, the total was reached with 13 overs to spare.
