Slaithwaite v Shepley Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership Saturday 5th May 2007 Hill Top, Slaithwaite
Shepley finally kick-started their season with a comfortable five-wicket win over promoted Slaithwaite. On a greenish wicket Shepley bowled first and steadily chipped away at the top order through some good pace bowling from Trent Copeland (unlucky not to take several wickets) and the Glover brothers. Some lusty hitting down the order brought Slaithwaite to a respectable 182-8. Despite losing a couple of early wickets, the Shepley reply gained momentum through a substantial stand between skipper Phil Heaton and the impressive Copeland. Shepley supporters became nervous after Copeland's dismissal, but Huw Ellis and Danny Glover saw them home. The season started here!
